Marina Bay Sands Hotel is one of Singapore's most iconic landmarks that runs on a hugely complex operation. With three fifty-story towers and a total of 2500 rooms, the logistics and supply chain required to circulate housekeeping supplies in and out of the property and to coordinate the effort of over 300 housekeeping staff daily is no small feat.
With over 2500 rooms and more than 300 housekeeping staff, Marina Bay Sands was looking for a way to optimise their housekeeping operations.
Background

Marina Bay Sands Hotel is not only one of Singapore's most iconic landmarks, it is also a hugely complex operation. With three fifty-story towers and a total of 2500 rooms, the logistics and supply chain required to circulate housekeeping supplies in and out of the property and to coordinate the effort of over 300 housekeeping staff daily is no small feat.

How might we optimise complex and large-scale housekeeping operations in order to improve our housekeeping services for a great guest experience?

What We Did
Detailed user research

Chemistry worked extensively with the operations team and directly with housekeeping staff to carry out on-site observation studies and research interviews. Our ability to break down complexity and visualise it in a way that would support multiple stakeholders to make sense of it helped the team to find innovative ways to address and optimise these critical workflows.

The Result

Chemistry worked extensively with the operations team and housekeeping staff to carry out on-site observation studies, research interviews, and testing

The result was a multi-pronged set of solutions, from a systemic level to technology and use of robotics all the way to the design of a bespoke housekeeping cart that makes the daily work of staff easier, faster and safer.
